Introduction
Narok County is located in southwestern Kenya and had a population of 1,157,873 as of the 2019 census. The dominant ethnic group in the area is the Maasai. The county’s capital and largest town is Narok, with Kilgoris being the only other major urban center. The current governor is Patrick Ole Ntutu, who was elected in 2022. Notably, Narok County, along with Kisii County, has reported cases of female genital mutilation, a practice that was outlawed in Kenya in 2001.
