Introduction
Machakos County is one of the 47 counties formed as part of Kenya’s devolved government system under the 2010 constitution. The county’s main administrative and commercial hub is Machakos Town. It is centrally located, sharing borders with Nairobi and Kiambu to the west, Embu to the north, Kitui to the east, Makueni to the south, Kajiado to the southwest, and both Murang’a and Kirinyaga to the northwest.
